Leverkusen's championship-winning manager comes to the Circular Valley Forum
Fernando Carro is the CEO of the Bundesliga soccer club and one of the fathers of this summer's double win. At the big meeting of the circular economy on November 15, he will explain how to form the right organization for big goals.
Fernando Carro de Prada – CEO Bayer 04 Leverkusen
In the previous soccer season, there was always a moment when Bayer 04 Leverkusen were threatened with defeat or an unfortunate draw. And just as often, there was a moment when coach Xabi Alonso's team rallied together and scored a goal in the final minutes of a match or in stoppage time.
This made Bayer 04 the first club in more than a decade to beat Bayern Munich and win both the German Championship and the German Cup. This was not achieved by buying expensive players, but by putting the right team together - on and off the field.
The CEO of the Bundesliga club, Fernando Carro, will explain how to create an organization around the football team at the Circular Valley Forum in the Historische Stadthalle Wuppertal on 15 November. The Spanish manager will give one of the key presentations at the major meeting of the circular economy. It is called “Meistermacher Carro – Success factors from the perspective of a career changer on how Bayer04 became champion”.
Together with the guest of honor, more than 1,200 decision-makers from business, politics and science are expected to be present at the forum. Among those who have confirmed their attendance from the federal and state governments are Federal Environment Minister Steffi Lemke, Sarah Ryglewski, Minister of State in the Chancellery, and Mona Neubaur, Deputy Minister-President of North Rhine-Westphalia. The CEOs of DAX-listed companies, innovative SMEs and large research institutions will be attending the Circular Valley Forum as well. Start-ups from six continents will also be presenting their business models.
Sustainability plays an important role for Bayer 04 Leverkusen. In 2022, the club set up a staff position on the topic and published its first sustainability report for 2023. The 82-page report shows what the club is doing in the areas of the environment, society and club management, what projects are currently underway and what goals it has set itself.
